The Supernatural

The Supernatural world is an awesome, powerful world that exists beyond our ability to see in the natural. When supernatural power is released, healings happen, miracles take place. Lazarus was brought back to life after being dead four days, four thousand people were fed from a few loaves and fishes, Jesus walked on water, these are a few examples of supernatural miracles. Visions are seen in the supernatural, such as the vision of Paul described of a person in 2 Corinthians 12: 3-4 "And I know that such a person-whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows-was caught up into Paradise and heard things that are not to be told that no mortal is permitted to repeat." Daniel saw prophetic, supernatural visions and interpreted dreams, Ezekiel and other prophets and apostles saw visions, Jacob in Genesis interpreted dreams and saved a nation. The book of Revelations, the last book of the Bible is a supernatural vision describing the events to take place as the present world ends and the second coming of Christ begins.

Hebrews 1:7 "He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire." Angels are supernatural beings created by God that work for the Lord, to do his will, to carry out God's plans and purposes. Angels have carried out God's commands from the beginning till the end of the Bible and still do so. Psalm 103:20 "Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones that do his bidding, who obey his word." There are many scriptures describing angels. Angels attended to Jesus after his temptation from Satan, an angel saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fiery furnace in the book of Daniel. The angel Raphael is one of the seven angels that stands before the glory of God. The angel Michael defeats Satan in the end times prophecy in Revelations. Angels are very powerful. Angels saved Lot and his family when Sodom and Gemorrah were destroyed for their idol worship. In Genesus 28:12, Jacob had a dream "And he dreamed that there was a ladder set upon the earth, the top of it reaching to heaven and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it."

Angels come to this world to serve and protect God's people from the forces of darkness. Hebrews 1:14 "Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inheirit salvation?" Angels are here on earth helping believers, intervening in situations on their behalf.  (I believe I have personally two angels in my life, one which helped me at a moment I desperately needed help and another a time when I was giving to the homeless.) Angels are in heaven giving praise to the Lord. Revelation 7:11 "and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped God singing "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen."

Demons exist in the supernatural as well. They carry out the will of Satan, to separate people from God, to block God's people, to prey on weakness in the works of the flesh, to bring destruction and misery. There are scriptures of Jesus exorcising demons from people, demons can live inside of people. Luke 4:33 when Jesus was teaching, "In the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon and he cried out in a loud voice "Let us alone! What have you to do with us Jesus of Nazareth! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the holy One of God." But Jesus rebuked him saying "Be silent and come out of him! When the demon had thrown himself down before him, he came out of him without having done him any harm."

Apostle Paul gives a good description of the spiritual battles that Christians can come against in dealing with the demonic forces of darkness in Ephesians 6:12 " For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." Be vigilant, put on your armor of God, pray against the schemes of the enemy and for justice to be done, for light to shine on darkness. Use your spiritual discernment to determine good verses evil, be careful and remember, 2 Corinthians 11: 14 "Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
